28th Annual Fourth of July Pet Parade
A Patriotic Parade for Pets, Just Down the Road
We are delighted to share word of a local tradition worth marking on your calendar. The Litchfield Historical Society's 27th Annual 4th of July Pet Parade returns Saturday, July 4th from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. in the Tapping Reeve Meadow.
All manner of pets are welcome to join in the celebration, whether dogs, cats, pigs, parakeets, snails, or beloved stuffed companions. Arrive at the judge's booth before the parade steps off around 3:00, then stay on for an afternoon of old-fashioned amusements, including sack races, tug-of-war, a photo booth, and an ice cream social featuring treats donated by Arethusa Farm Dairy.
Pets should be leashed or caged, and immunizations kept current where applicable. Parade registration begins at 2:15.
A lovely way to spend the holiday with the ones who follow you everywhere.
