Gather began at our sister property, Troutbeck, and is a lunchtime gathering for entrepreneurial minds to connect, learn from one another, and share ideas. Hosted by Jason Klein and Sascha Lewis, the program brings together a thoughtful group of local business leaders and creatives.

Based in Naugatuck, Connecticut, TWENTY2 Wallpaper + Textiles is a full-service partner providing design, development and manufacturing expertise for custom projects and private label collections. Founded by husband-and-wife team Kyra and Robertson Hartnett, the company has spent more than two decades championing wallpaper as a transformative design tool. Today, TWENTY2 collaborates with leading interior designers, artists, and brands to design and produce innovative, beautifully crafted wallcoverings and textiles that blend artistry, technical expertise, and sustainable manufacturing.

TWENTY2 Wallpaper + Textiles created bespoke wallcoverings in printed grasscloth incorporating historic details found in our 1888 colonial revival house, as seen in the images above. In restoring Belden, we unearthed a charming original floral wallpaper from the inside of a windowseat, a paper time capsule, that TWENTY2 evokes here. TWENTY2 also looked to patterns in old tin ceilings, moldings and other fragments for their printed wallcoverings. ⁠

Q&A with TWENTY2

Q: In your words, how do your wall covering designs connect to the original buildings and what was discovered in the Belden renovation process?
A: We love the opportunity to create bespoke wallpapers and textiles that speak to the history and soul of a space. Having the chance to scout the location before demolition began, provided the chance for us to capture original architectural details, remnants of old wallpapers and even hidden signatures on the walls that we used as fodder for the custom wallcovering that we designed for the space. Tying into these elements creates an unspoken synergy that will be felt by guests.

Q: How do you feel about adaptive reuse?
A: I care deeply about preserving, celebrating and restoring original architecture within a community, so I think adaptive reuse is a wonderful solution and allows future generations to enjoy what may have been demolished otherwise.

Q: What's your favorite material pattern or motif used in our collaboration and why?
A: We found remnants of an old floral wallpaper on the walls of Belden and used it as source material for new wallcovering designs - which is very exciting to see. Adaptive reuse though surface design!
