Presenting Two Potters, a special exhibition featuring the work of renowned ceramic artists Guy Wolff and Matin Malikzada. Though their backgrounds span continents and traditions, both artists share a deep commitment to preserving and advancing historic pottery practices through masterful craftsmanship and timeless design.
A lifelong Connecticut potter, Guy Wolff has spent more than fifty years creating functional wares inspired by traditional English and American pottery. Working from his studio in Bantam, Connecticut, his work reflects a reverence for historical forms, honest craftsmanship, and the enduring beauty of clay.
Joining him is Matin Malikzada, a seventh-generation Afghan master potter from Istalif, Afghanistan, internationally celebrated for reviving the region’s distinctive turquoise-glazed ceramics and symmetrical decorative techniques. Formerly head of Ceramics at the Turquoise Mountain Institute in Kabul, Matin now continues his artistic practice in Northwest Connecticut after relocating with his family following the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan.
